Lewis Hamilton recreates iconic 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' scene with dream Ferrari

CHICAGO, IL — In an unexpected twist, Lewis Hamilton has brought to life a cherished scene from the beloved film "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," featuring his dream Ferrari car.

The meticulously recreated scene, orchestrated by Hamilton's production company, Dawn Apollo Films, sees Hamilton stepping into the shoes of a garage employee who takes a Ferrari for a joyride through the bustling streets of Chicago. In a nod to the 1986 classic, Hamilton showcases his favorite car of all time, the Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder.

"A lot of cutting edge tech, production, and planning had to happen to film the scene," Hamilton shared in a social media post, hinting at the intensive effort behind the recreation.

In an interview with Time magazine ahead of the new season, Hamilton described the car as "the ultimate retirement car," envisioning a future where he drives down the Pacific Coast Highway with his pet dog, Roscoe, "him with a scarf and goggles in the seat next to me."

Hamilton thrilled fans by posting the clip on Instagram on Thursday, just ahead of the Formula 1 season-opening Australian Grand Prix. Within five hours, the video had amassed over 600,000 likes, evidencing the excitement surrounding both the scene and Hamilton's upcoming season.

"No better way to start the season than by fulfilling another dream," Hamilton wrote in the caption. He continued, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off has been one of my favourite movies since I was a kid. This is to pay homage to the iconic film and to celebrate my first season with Ferrari. It definitely took a lot of cutting-edge tech, production, and planning to get right. Had to get the exact car too ... it's been a dream car since seeing the movie."

Hamilton also gave a shout out to Edward Norton for joining him in the project, adding, "This is the energy and excitement I'm bringing to the track this year. ANDIAMO!!"

As Hamilton gears up for the new season, this creative endeavor not only pays tribute to a cultural touchstone but also sets a high-octane tone for the thrills to come in the world of Formula 1 racing.
