In a significant move for Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali will continue to lead the sport until the end of 2029 following a five-year contract extension from Liberty Media, the commercial rights holder.

The announcement, made ahead of the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne this weekend, offers stability as the new season kicks off.

Domenicali, 59, brings extensive experience to the role, having previously served as Ferrari team principal and Lamborghini CEO. He took over as F1’s chief executive from Chase Carey in 2021.

Under Domenicali's leadership, F1 has seen "incredible growth and increased interest and demand for its races around the world," according to the sport’s official statement.

Liberty Media CEO Derek Chang praised Domenicali's contributions, saying, "Stefano has been an excellent steward of the business, building on its successful foundation and accelerating F1's rate of growth both commercially and in fan engagement.”
