Ferrari's new 2025 car debuts with Hamilton, Leclerc

Ferrari unveils new car with Hamilton and Leclerc debut on track.

Ferrari took its first steps towards ending a lengthy Formula 1 trophy drought by unveiling their new 2025 car on Wednesday, with both Charles Leclerc and new signing Lewis Hamilton completing laps at the Fiorano track.

The new vehicle, dubbed the SF-25, was first introduced in a grand launch event in London before hitting the private track next to Ferrari's iconic Maranello factory. Leclerc had the honor of taking the SF-25 out for its first spin in the morning before Hamilton followed suit.

The team, aiming to secure their first title since 2008, had 200 km available for the shakedown under filming day regulations. This car marks the first design under the leadership of Loic Serra, formerly of Mercedes. Notably, it features a switch to a pull rod front suspension in response to bouncing issues that plagued the previous model.

Serra explained the team’s approach, stating, "The SF-25 is an evolution of the SF-24, which gave us an excellent starting point to work from. Having said that, we have worked hard, changing 99% of the car, evolving its architecture to maximize performance. The pull rod front suspension is only the most obvious of many significant changes."

He continued, "We can expect the coming season to be very closely contested, with outcomes decided by thousandths of a second. We are all set to give it our best shot to find those gains, even the marginal ones, that can make the difference. We are looking forward to being competitive right from the very first race."

Preseason testing of the new car begins next week from February 26-28, with the season-opening Australian Grand Prix slated for March 16-18. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see if Ferrari's latest innovations can finally break their championship drought.
