EA Sports Rolls Out F1 25 Driver Ratings Update Ahead of Summer Break

As Formula 1 heads into its summer break following the Hungarian Grand Prix, EA Sports and Codemasters have taken advantage of the pause to roll out the first driver ratings update for their game, F1 25. Covering performances up to the British Grand Prix, this update reflects the highs and lows of the season's opening half. Notably, it brings a shake-up at the top, with reigning champion Max Verstappen taking a slight dip, while McLaren's Oscar Piastri steals the spotlight.

Piastri Climbs in Class

One of the standout stars in this ratings update is Oscar Piastri, whose stock continues to rise following an impressive start to the season. The current championship leader added four points to his overall rating, reaching an impressive 91 OVR—a career-best that ties him with his more experienced teammate, Lando Norris. Piastri’s pace proved the driver’s biggest area of improvement, climbing six points, which solidifies his place as one of the year's breakout performers.

Joining Piastri on the second tier of the rankings is George Russell, who has also earned a 91 OVR. The Mercedes driver continues his push for consistency, keeping himself in elite company.

Shockwaves in the RB Camp

Among the rookies, Isack Hadjar has been the season’s biggest surprise, delivering solid performances that bolster his OVR to 77, a meteoric nine-point jump. The Racing Bulls driver benefited from significant increases in categories like Experience, Racecraft, and Awareness—key metrics that highlight his growth behind the wheel.

On the flip side, teammate Liam Lawson hasn’t fared as well. A tough start to the season saw Lawson lose eight points, dropping his OVR to 72 despite some recent signs of recovery.

Doohan’s Fall from Grace

Jack Doohan, who lost his Alpine seat to Franco Colapinto earlier this year, finds himself in the lowest rung of the rankings with an OVR of 67. His struggles in consistency and results leave him with much to prove moving forward.

Minor Gains for Veterans

Veteran Nico Hülkenberg also made headlines with his surprise podium finish at Silverstone, which earned him one additional point, boosting his OVR to 85. He joins the list of modest gainers including Lewis Hamilton, Alex Albon, Kimi Antonelli, and Oliver Bearman.

Verstappen Loses Ground

In a surprising turn, Max Verstappen—long regarded as the top-rated driver—has dropped a few points in the rankings. With an OVR of 93, he remains ahead of the pack but by the slimmest of margins. The reigning champion has shown his dominance on the track, but this slight dip raises questions about whether future updates will further tighten the gap between Verstappen and his rivals.
