Among those responding to the news was Max Verstappen, the four-time world champion who has enjoyed unparalleled success under Horner's guidance. In a heartfelt social media post, Verstappen said:

Speculation Surrounding Verstappen’s Future

Horner's departure comes amid swirling speculation about the future of Verstappen himself. The 27-year-old remains under contract with Red Bull until the end of 2028, but reports during the recent Austrian Grand Prix suggested Mercedes may be considering a move for the Dutch driver. Those reports have been fueled by rumors that Verstappen's contract includes a performance-based escape clause—one that could allow him to exit earlier than planned.

When asked about the situation during the British Grand Prix at Silverstone last weekend, Verstappen remained tight-lipped, declining to address the rumors directly. However, sources within Formula 1 suggest tensions at Red Bull have been escalating in recent months, driven by a confluence of factors: a dip in the team's on-track performance, Verstappen's dissatisfaction with the car, and uncertainty surrounding his long-term commitment.
