Mercedes Teams Up with Adidas in Post-Hamilton Era
German apparel and footwear giant Adidas has announced a multi-year partnership with the Mercedes F1 team as their official kit supplier, signalling a new chapter for the team following the departure of Lewis Hamilton. The partnership, revealed on Tuesday, comes as the team prepares to navigate the post-Hamilton era.
Previously, Puma had been the kit supplier for Mercedes, a team that once dominated the Formula 1 circuit. The shift marks a significant change for Mercedes, who finished fourth overall in Hamilton's final season with the team. Notably, Hamilton celebrated his 40th birthday on Tuesday and will be racing for Ferrari in 2025.
Speculation about the Adidas deal had been circulating since last year, following the leak of images showcasing branded apparel.
Mercedes confirmed that the specially-designed kit would also be available to fans, with limited edition releases planned throughout the year. The new range, which includes apparel, footwear, and accessories, is set to be unveiled next month ahead of the season opener in Australia on March 16.
Speaking on the new partnership, Mercedes principal Toto Wolff stated, "Our partnership with adidas is a clear statement of intent as we begin to write our next chapter as a team."
