Haas confirms a major cost cap milestone as team owner Gene Haas no longer needs to inject personal funds into the F1 team for the first time in 2025.
Haas Achieves Major Financial Milestone
Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu has confirmed that the 2025 Formula 1 season will mark the first time team owner Gene Haas will not have to personally inject funds into the F1 operation.
For the first time, Haas will operate at the maximum budget cap, a significant step up from previous seasons where their spending power fell below the limit.
Haas Confirms Two Key Milestones for F1 2025
With their P7 finish in last season’s Constructors’ Championship, Haas secured additional prize money, which has contributed to their newfound financial stability.
Furthermore, the team’s partnership with Toyota is expanding, beginning with their first-ever Testing of a Previous Car (TPC) session in Jerez earlier this year. New drivers Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman took part in the test, helping Haas prepare for the upcoming season.
New Challenges Under the Budget Cap
Despite being the smallest team on the grid in terms of staff numbers, Haas will now have to manage its resources effectively to remain within the financial restrictions imposed by Formula 1.
Komatsu acknowledged the challenges ahead, stating:
“This year is the first time that, I think, as a company, Gene doesn’t have to put his money in, so it’s great. We haven’t been hitting the budget cap before, but now we are. We have a whole different challenge of making sure we stay within the cap.”
A New Mindset for Haas
With a renewed focus on efficiency and competitiveness, Haas is adjusting its approach to financial management.
“Before, if we had money, we could spend it freely, but now we need to be strategic,” Komatsu explained. “It’s a completely different mindset, but if you want to be competitive, you have to be at the budget cap.”
With prize money and sponsorship revenue covering their expenses, Haas is now positioned as a financially stable and self-sufficient team heading into F1 2025.
