Max Verstappen's team responds to rumors of a £1 billion move to Aston Martin amid ongoing speculation about his Formula 1 future.

Max Verstappen’s Team Responds to Aston Martin Rumors

Aston Martin Denies £1 Billion Verstappen Deal

Max Verstappen, the reigning four-time Formula 1 champion, has been linked to a potential move to Aston Martin in a deal reportedly worth £1 billion. Aston Martin, however, has firmly denied the claims, calling them “categorically false.”

The rumors emerged from a report by the Daily Mail, suggesting that Aston Martin’s commercial and marketing director, Jefferson Slack, has been courting sponsors with assertions that Verstappen would join the team. The move, if true, would eclipse Lewis Hamilton’s famous switch to Ferrari in both scale and impact.

Verstappen’s Team Offers a Cryptic Response

When asked about the rumors, Verstappen’s camp provided a nonchalant response, telling GPblog, “That’s nice.” The comment neither confirmed nor denied the possibility of a move, adding fuel to the ongoing speculation about the Dutchman’s future in Formula 1.

While Verstappen is under contract with Red Bull Racing until the end of 2028, discussions about his long-term future have been a recurring theme. This latest rumor builds on previous reports suggesting that Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll is eager to bring Verstappen on board, particularly after securing championship-winning designer Adrian Newey from Red Bull.

Max Verstappen’s Stance on Aston Martin Rumors

Verstappen has previously dismissed the idea of joining Aston Martin, stating last year that he had “no discussions” about such a move. Speaking to Viaplay, he clarified, “At the moment, I haven’t thought about that at all.”

However, the possibility of a move in the future has not been entirely ruled out by Verstappen’s father, Jos Verstappen. Reflecting on Red Bull’s recent struggles, he hinted that Max’s future beyond 2025 could hinge on the team’s ability to remain competitive under Formula 1’s upcoming regulation changes.

Red Bull’s Challenge: Staying Competitive

Jos Verstappen emphasized the importance of Red Bull delivering a strong car in the coming seasons. “Red Bull has to build a car that is no longer so difficult to drive,” he said, referencing the team’s challenges in the latter half of 2024. “If Max feels that winning races is no longer possible at Red Bull, a change is not out of the question.”

While Max remains committed to Red Bull for now, the team faces significant pressure to adapt to the new regulations set to take effect in 2026. Should Red Bull falter, Verstappen may explore opportunities with rival teams like Aston Martin.
