Overnight rain left the track wet, forcing drivers onto intermediate tyres. Kevin Magnussen set the initial pace, but a spin by Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly's gravel trap incident brought out a red flag.

As conditions improved, Hamilton initially went fastest with 1m 38.065s. However, Russell soon clocked a session-best 1m 37.529s before another shower locked in the times.

Carlos Sainz was the lead Ferrari in fourth, followed by Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, and Oscar Piastri. Fernando Alonso improved late to take eighth, ahead of Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg.

Williams' Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant sandwiched Lance Stroll in positions 11-13. Yuki Tsunoda, Valtteri Bottas, and Esteban Ocon led their respective teams' efforts.

Magnussen finished 17th, ahead of Daniel Ricciardo, who faces a stewards' inquiry. Zhou Guanyu and the sidelined Gasly completed the order.
