Audi F1 Team 2026

The Audi Revolut F1 Team officially debuted as a full factory "works" team for the 2026 Formula 1 season, following its complete takeover of the Sauber Group. The team operates from three main locations: the chassis factory in Hinwil, Switzerland; the power unit development center in Neuburg, Germany; and a new technology center in Bicester, UK.

2026 Team Lineup & Leadership

Race Drivers: Nico Hülkenberg (No. 27) and Gabriel Bortoleto (No. 5). Hülkenberg brings over 250 starts and a maiden podium from 2025, while Bortoleto joined as a highly touted prospect after winning consecutive F2 and F3 titles.

Team Leadership: Mattia Binotto currently leads the project as Team Principal and Head of the F1 Project. He assumed full control after Jonathan Wheatley departed for personal reasons in April 2026, just two rounds into the season.

Technical Chiefs: James Key oversees chassis development, while Stefan Dreyer serves as the Chief Technical Officer for the power unit.

Current Season Performance (2026)

The team's debut has been characterized by a mix of early promise and significant technical "growing pains".

Standings: After the first three rounds (Australia, China, and Japan), Audi sits in the middle of the pack.

First Points: Gabriel Bortoleto secured the team's first-ever championship point with a P10 finish at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

Primary Struggle: Drivers have highlighted the car's race starts as a major weakness, describing them as "terrible" compared to rivals like Ferrari and Mercedes due to the complex new-generation power unit management.
