Ferrari unveil retro Niki Lauda tribute livery for Italian Grand Prix
Ferrari to Celebrate 50th Anniversary of Niki Lauda’s First F1 Title with Retro Livery at Monza
Ferrari will honor the 50th anniversary of Niki Lauda’s first Formula 1 world title by running a retro tribute livery at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza this weekend, paying homage to the iconic Ferrari 312 T F1 car with which the Austrian clinched the 1975 championship.
Lauda secured that title at the Italian Grand Prix with a third-place finish at Monza, while teammate Clay Regazzoni won the race. The triumph ended Ferrari’s 11-year F1 championship drought and was the first of Lauda’s three world crowns, followed by titles in 1977 and 1984.
To mark the milestone, Ferrari’s cars will carry a special edition look designed to echo the 1975 machine. The team says its 2025 car will be presented in the same shade of red as the 312 T, with a white engine cover reminiscent of Lauda’s famous car and a silver rear wing styled after the aluminum unit used in 1975. Drivers and mechanics will complete the tribute in period-inspired race overalls as part of this heritage-inspired livery.
The original 312 T driven by Lauda will be displayed at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, while former Scuderia driver Jean Alesi is set to complete demonstration laps at Monza in the 1995 Ferrari 412 T2—the last Ferrari F1 car powered by a V12 engine.
Ferrari heads into its home race looking to rebound from a double DNF at the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, where Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc crashed out in separate incidents. Hamilton also carries a five-place grid penalty into Monza for ignoring waved double-yellow flags on reconnaissance laps before last Sunday’s race at Zandvoort.
