Hamilton determined to drive Ferrari toward title contention
Lewis Hamilton Focused on Bringing Championship Glory to Ferrari
Lewis Hamilton is doubling down on his efforts to bring Ferrari back to championship glory. Following his move from Mercedes over the winter, the seven-time world champion admits there are clear areas of improvement needed for Ferrari to end an 18-year drivers' title drought.
Speaking ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix, Hamilton emphasized his commitment:
"I see huge potential in this team. The passion here is unmatched, but not all areas are firing on all cylinders. My job is to challenge every department, particularly at the top, to make the changes we need."
Hamilton, who has yet to score a podium finish for the famed Scuderia aside from a sprint race victory in China, is adamant about rewriting history:
"Kimi, Fernando, Sebastian—all world champions—couldn't win a title here. I refuse to let that be the case with me. I'm going the extra mile."
Hands-On Involvement at Ferrari
To that end, Hamilton has been hands-on at Ferrari’s Maranello factory, holding meetings and writing detailed progress documents for the team. He disclosed:
"I've sent detailed reports throughout the season. I’ve sat with team heads, from John Elkann to Fred Vasseur, pinpointing structural adjustments and car-related issues. We're addressing everything from next year's engine to suspension setups."
Ferrari heads to Spa this weekend with a new rear suspension designed to maximize the car's potential at lower ride heights. Hamilton noted:
"We'll test the upgrades in free practice, and though the simulator doesn't show much difference, the real-world tests will tell us more."
He acknowledged Ferrari's slower pace of upgrades compared to rivals like Red Bull but remains optimistic:
"It’s good to see new parts arriving. Big changes take time, but the effort back at the factory is clear."
Determined to Win
Hamilton’s goal is clear and resolute:
"I'm here to win."
