Piastri shines in final practice ahead of Spanish Grand Prix
Oscar Piastri Dominates Final Practice Session Ahead of Spanish Grand Prix
Oscar Piastri delivered a commanding performance in the final practice session for the Spanish Grand Prix, solidifying McLaren's dominance as the team capped off a trio of fastest runs before qualifying.
The Australian rookie, who had already set the pace in FP2, clocked a blistering 1:12.387 to outclass the field. Piastri’s time put him half a second ahead of teammate Lando Norris, whose fastest effort was marred by going wide at a critical moment.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc secured third in the session but was unable to mount a serious challenge, finishing an eye-opening seven-tenths of a second behind Piastri. George Russell followed closely in fourth for Mercedes, demonstrating the team’s fight to remain competitive.
Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton endured a frustrating session, placing only ninth in the other Ferrari entry. The seven-time world champion reported gearshift issues late into the practice, which appeared to disrupt his pace and rhythm.
Anticipation Builds Towards Qualifying
The attention now turns to qualifying, where Piastri has the chance to solidify his scintillating form and McLaren looks to build on its momentum. The stage is set for an intense battle under the Spanish sun.
