Lewis Hamilton’s cinematic ambitions unveiled as he juggles racing and film production
Lewis Hamilton’s Dawn Apollo: Seven-Time F1 Champion Turning to Film Production
MONACO – Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time Formula 1 champion, has taken a significant step towards his post-racing career by revealing his involvement in film production. Speaking ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, Hamilton shared that he is currently working on three movie scripts, all under the banner of his production company, Dawn Apollo.
Hamilton established Dawn Apollo in 2022, expressing a desire to delve into the world of filmmaking after retiring from Formula 1. The company has already played a pivotal role in the upcoming F1 movie starring Brad Pitt, where Hamilton contributes as both a producer and consultant.
"I've got three concepts that I'm writing," Hamilton disclosed. "I'm going to write them with a writer because I've never written a movie before. But I've got these concepts and these ideas that I've come up with for movies. I think two of them will be animations and one of them is already in a phase of the first part of the script already, so it's exciting."
Expanding Beyond Racing: Hamilton’s Creative Ventures
Alongside feature films, Hamilton anticipates exploring other avenues in storytelling, such as documentaries and potentially a TV series, though movies remain his primary passion. "I love the development of movies—that's what I love the most," he emphasized.
Adding to his burgeoning film portfolio, Hamilton participated in a private screening of the new F1 movie in Monaco with his fellow drivers. Reflecting on the experience, Hamilton expressed the thrill of seeing his name roll across the credits.
"When you do hopefully watch it, at the beginning you see all the different logos for the different production houses and my one comes up, which I worked on for so long," he noted proudly.
Dawn Apollo's planetary-themed logo, a concept conceived by Hamilton himself, graced the screen—a testament to his hands-on approach in filmmaking.
"So that came up and it was just amazing to see that, and then quite early on in the film it starts telling you who produced the movie and it came up with my name. So yeah, I've gone in very high, I couldn't go in any higher for the first movie, but we will be producing more movies over the coming years," Hamilton said.
Balancing Formula 1 and Filmmaking
Hamilton’s dual pursuits showcase his ability to balance his formidable racing career with his burgeoning passion for film, hinting at a rich post-retirement era dominated by creative storytelling. As the Monaco Grand Prix approaches, both fans of racing and cinema eagerly await his next developments—on and off the track.
