Lewis Hamilton’s Heartfelt Focus on Racing and Roscoe Ahead of Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix

In the world of motorsport, Lewis Hamilton is renowned not just for his racing prowess but also for his fierce loyalty to his companions, including his elderly bulldog, Roscoe. As the seven-time world champion gears up for his inaugural Formula 1 race in Italy as a Ferrari driver, his concerns are elsewhere—focused on Roscoe's wellbeing.

Roscoe, who has been a loyal mate through six of Hamilton's title-winning seasons with Mercedes, is not just a home-bound pup but a worldwide sensation with 1.2 million Instagram followers. He’s known to experience the racing world firsthand, equipped with his own paddock pass and flying on private jets.

"He's 12-and-a-half years old so he's an old boy," Hamilton shared with reporters ahead of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix at the iconic Imola circuit. Roscoe recently battled pneumonia, though Hamilton reassures, "He's fine now. But definitely this is a time where every time I get a text message from the lady who's looking after him, my heart stops for a second. You know, what's next?"

Hamilton expressed a heartfelt desire to bring Roscoe to key races later this year:

"I really want to try and bring him to Silverstone [in July] and take him to Monza [in September] and cheer him up." Despite the ailments, Hamilton mentions, "I was with him before Miami [the race before Imola]. He still wants to play. He still has that kind of spirit but he sleeps a lot."

Reflecting on Racing Challenges and Life at Ferrari

As Hamilton prepares for the race, he reflects on a season dotted with highs, like winning the Shanghai sprint race, and lows, having not surpassed fifth in six regular race starts. A recent race in Miami was marked by a sarcastic comment from Hamilton regarding strategy, where he suggested Ferrari ought to take a tea break in response to team orders.

Ferrari, the legendary stalwart of Formula 1, currently stands fourth in the championship, trailing 152 points behind defending champions McLaren. Hamilton acknowledged the weight of expectations, stating:

"There's a lot of hype out there, a lot of expectation of course," especially given the rich history and enthusiasm surrounding Ferrari's Maranello headquarters. "But that comes with greatness and we have got a great team. I don't approach it any differently... I'm definitely excited to see more red."

Embracing Italy’s Culture and Ferrari Passion

In this phase of his career, Hamilton is embracing the passion and fervor that embodies Italy and Ferrari fandom:

"You know that Italians are passionate, you know that there's passion around Ferrari. It's a lot more than you expect when you're actually in it and it's beautiful."

As he balances concerns for Roscoe with the demands of racing, Hamilton continues to merge personal devotion with professional ambition, driving forward both on the track and in life.
