Max Verstappen Tops EA Sports F1 25 Driver Ratings

EA Sports has officially unveiled the driver ratings for their latest F1 25 video game, with four-time world champion Max Verstappen earning the top spot in the rankings. The Dutch driver starts the game with an impressive 95 Overall Rating (OVR), a decision that is unlikely to stir much controversy among fans given his dominance in the sport. However, several other ratings have already sparked heated debates within the community.

How Ratings Are Determined

Each driver's OVR is based on four key attributes: Experience (EXP), Racecraft (RAC), Awareness (AWA), and Pace (PAC). Verstappen showcases stellar numbers across the board, with 87 EXP, 96 RAC, 85 AWA, and 96 PAC. While his Experience rating trails slightly behind some of the veteran drivers on the grid, it doesn’t prevent him from taking the top spot overall.

The Experience attribute has emerged as a particularly polarizing metric, as it tends to undervalue younger, emerging stars despite their performances on the track. Drivers such as Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Oliver Bearman, Isack Hadjar, and Gabriel Bortoleto boast promising rookie campaigns, yet their low EXP ratings keep their OVRs on the lower end of the spectrum. Even Oscar Piastri, who currently leads the world championship, finds himself rated at a modest 87 OVR due to his limited career longevity compared to veterans like Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton.

Notable Omissions and Updates

One surprising omission from the rankings is Franco Colapinto, who is expected to replace Jack Doohan at Alpine following an intra-season driver swap. Additionally, fans are awaiting clarity on whether Liam Lawson will begin the season in a Red Bull seat or remain at AlphaTauri, as the rating list does not specify.

EA Sports plans to provide ratings updates throughout the season, meaning some of the more controversial numbers could change as drivers prove themselves on the track. For now, Verstappen comfortably sits atop the field, while seasoned veterans and promising newcomers aim to climb the ranks in both the game world and real-life competition.

Fan Reactions and Heated Debates

As fans eagerly await the release of F1 25, one thing is certain: the ratings will continue to fuel debates in the motorsport community for months to come.
