A visibly frustrated Lando Norris admitted feeling "clueless" in his McLaren following a disappointing sixth-place qualifying result for the Bahrain Grand Prix. Despite McLaren’s formidable pace during practice, Norris found himself trailing teammate Oscar Piastri, who secured pole position.

Norris, the preseason favorite and current championship leader, was unable to pinpoint the source of his struggles. "Just not quick enough," Norris summarized, reflecting on the session. Though Norris acknowledged an ongoing discomfort with his McLaren, a sentiment expressed throughout the season, he highlighted his inconsistency as a pressing issue.

"I mean, it was just every lap, honestly. I've been off every lap this weekend, just not comfortable," Norris explained. He praised the car, calling it "amazing," yet remarked, "I've been off it all weekend. Don't know why, just clueless on track at the minute. So, I don't know. I just need a big reset or something."

In previous statements, Norris downplayed claims of McLaren having the best car. On Saturday, he conceded that point but insisted his own performance was the issue. "I just can't flow with the car, and when I can't flow, I'm not very quick," he admitted.

The team's internal dynamics set the stage for an intriguing title fight, anticipated in the 2025 season. Despite Piastri's strong showing, Norris remained focused on his own challenges. "I’ve always known Oscar’s good," Norris said, adding, "I’m more worried about my own performance than others."

McLaren CEO Zak Brown offered words of encouragement. "Tomorrow is a new day," he asserted, confident in Norris's capabilities as a "great racing driver."

As the race approaches, Norris will aim to remain competitive, starting just a point ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in the Drivers’ Championship. The upcoming Grand Prix represents a critical opportunity for Norris to regain his form and challenge for a podium finish.

McLaren fans will eagerly watch as Norris seeks to overcome his on-track uncertainties and deliver a strong performance in the Bahrain Grand Prix.
