Australian GP track walk returns for 2025
Track walk tradition returns for 2025 Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park.
The Australian Grand Prix organizers have announced the lifting of the ban on fans walking the Albert Park track after the Formula 1 race. This decision follows the prior prohibition set in place last year after a dramatic track invasion during the 2023 race.
The fan-favorite "track walk" allows enthusiasts to stroll the circuit and experience the excitement up close, even catching a glimpse of drivers on the podium. The ban was initially implemented after a large number of fans breached security, accessing the track in the final stages of the 2023 race and reaching a stranded Haas car driven by Nico Hulkenberg.
"Track walk is a unique and cherished experience for our fans, and we are very excited to be able to welcome it back for 2025 and have this incredible moment shared around the world," remarked Travis Auld, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation's boss, on Wednesday.
The restoration of the track walk comes after careful consideration and approval from authorities. Organizers are implementing a series of measures to ensure the safe execution of the event at the F1 season-opener on March 16. This will include purpose-built barrier gates and heightened security measures.
Last year's Australian Grand Prix saw a record-breaking attendance of 452,055 spectators over the four-day event, demonstrating the immense popularity and vibrant atmosphere surrounding the race. With the track walk reinstated, the 2025 event promises to deliver an even more engaging experience for fans worldwide.
