Aston Martin unveils AMR25 for 2025 F1 season
Aston Martin unveils the AMR25: their contender for the 2025 Formula 1 championship.
Aston Martin has officially joined the fray with the unveiling of their 2025 Formula 1 car, the AMR25. This latest model was introduced to eager fans and industry insiders via an online reveal on Sunday, setting the stage for its on-track debut.
While all 10 F1 teams showcased their new liveries during a launch event in London on Tuesday, these designs were demonstrated on show cars rather than the actual race cars that will compete this year. Aston Martin, however, took a different route with the virtual reveal of their long-awaited AMR25.
The team’s established drivers, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, are set to bring the AMR25 to life on Monday during a promotional filming day in Bahrain, offering a first glimpse of the car in action.
Reflecting on their previous seasons, Aston Martin showed promise at the start of 2023 with podium finishes but ended up in the midfield, securing fifth place in the constructors' championship. The acquisition of Adrian Newey, a renowned design mastermind from Red Bull, signifies a strategic move to bolster their design capabilities. Despite his impactful presence, Newey, who also became a financial partner in the team, will not influence the current car, as he begins his tenure in early March 2024.
Determined to tackle the challenges encountered with last year's AMR24, Aston Martin's design office has devoted efforts towards enhancing low-speed downforce and refining mid-corner balance in the AMR25.
"For this year's car we've really taken on board the lessons and feedback from last season," said team principal and CEO Andy Cowell. "We've focused on creating a more driveable car for Lance and Fernando and we've pushed hard to make it more benign. We expect it to be a tight and competitive field from the get-go in Australia, so we know it won't be easy. Our aims are realistic with a view to how we can continually improve in all areas, especially as we, like all teams, approach a vital shake-up of the regulations in 2026."
The AMR25, described by the team as an "evolution," boasts significant aerodynamic advancements. Among the new features are redesigned front and rear wings, reprofiled sidepods with deeper undercuts, and a revised floor.
"We learnt a lot in 2024 and the team have been using that as a driving force as we head into this season with the AMR25," commented Alonso. "The competition is going to be very tight this year in the last year of the current regulations, but I know the team have been working hard at the AMRTC [Aston Martin Racing Technology Centre] to make sure we are ready."
This Monday's filming day will allow the team to conduct 200km of track running before participating in the preseason testing in Bahrain from Wednesday to Friday.
The highly anticipated 2025 F1 season kicks off in Australia on March 16, where Aston Martin will be eager to showcase the fruits of their labor and rise within the ranks.
