In a significant restructuring of Aston Martin's management, the team has announced that Andy Cowell will be the new team principal, effective immediately. The Silverstone-based Formula 1 team also revealed that Mike Krack will transition to the role of chief trackside officer.

This management overhaul is part of Aston Martin's strategic plans to become a Championship-winning team. In a statement, the team outlined the new direction: "The Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team announces a restructuring of its senior management team as it continues its mission of becoming a Championship-winning outfit."

Andy Cowell brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having joined Aston Martin in July as group chief executive. Cowell previously served as managing director of Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains, where he played a critical part in Mercedes' unprecedented run of eight consecutive constructors' championships and contributed to the success of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. Cowell stepped down from Mercedes in July 2020 and subsequently moved into consulting before joining Aston Martin.

"I have spent the last three months understanding and assessing our performance, and I've been incredibly impressed by the dedication, commitment, and hard work of this team," Cowell said. "With the completion of the AMR Technology Campus and our transition in 2026 to a full works team, alongside our strategic partners Honda and Aramco, we are on a journey to becoming a Championship-winning team. These organizational changes are a natural evolution of the multi-year plans that we have scheduled to make, and I'm incredibly excited about the future."

Adding further strength to their technical lineup, Aston Martin will welcome Adrian Newey, the most successful car designer in the history of the sport. Newey is set to start in March and will assume the newly created role of managing technical partner. He will spearhead the development of the team's 2026 car.

With both Cowell and Newey onboard, Aston Martin is clearly positioning itself for long-term success, aiming to disrupt the current dominance held by the top-tier teams in Formula 1. The strategic changes within the management and the inclusion of top engineering talent underline their ambition to compete at the pinnacle of motorsport by the 2026 season.
