Lewis Hamilton in ‘concrete talks' to invest in KTM MotoGP team
In a surprising turn of events, Lewis Hamilton, the most successful Formula 1 driver of all time, has entered into "concrete talks" about investing in the MotoGP outfit KTM, according to KTM’s motorsports director, Pit Beirer.
Hamilton, who boasts an impressive seven world titles and 105 race victories, has long been a fan of motorcycle racing's premier class. In June, he expressed his interest in gaining equity within the sport, and it appears that this interest is now taking shape.
KTM, a prominent player in MotoGP with representation in Moto2 and Moto3 as well, is currently facing a financial crisis. Beirer has confirmed that the company is open to outside investments and Hamilton is among the potential investors showing keen interest.
"I can only say that we had very interesting discussions with his management," Beirer told Speedweek. "It's no secret that Lewis Hamilton is interested in MotoGP and is thinking about his own team. Here, too, there are concrete talks."
This potential investment would not mark Hamilton’s first foray into team ownership. The 39-year-old became a part-owner of the Denver Broncos in the NFL in 2022 and also founded Team X44 in the Extreme E series.
