Lewis Hamilton reveals frustration with Mercedes following Brazil setback

Las Vegas, NV – Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton revealed his frustrations with Mercedes after a challenging race in Brazil, admitting that he considered walking away from the team.
The 39-year-old Briton, renowned as the sport’s most successful driver, will be joining Ferrari at the end of the year. His remarks over team radio in Sao Paulo sparked speculation about an early departure, although Mercedes clarified that his words were directed at team members not attending the final three rounds.
However, speaking ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Hamilton indicated a deeper meaning behind his comments. "In the moment that's how I felt, like I didn't really want to come back after that weekend," he explained.
Reflecting on the season's struggles, Hamilton continued, "But I think that's only natural. It's frustrating when you have a season like this, which I'm pretty sure I won't have again, or at least I'll work towards not having again.
"It wasn't a great feeling in that moment, but I'm here, I'm standing strong and I'm going to give it absolutely everything for these last few races."
In Brazil, Hamilton finished 10th and described it as a "disaster of a weekend," with George Russell, his teammate, securing fourth place. He finished 11th in the Saturday sprint as well. During the race, Hamilton remarked, "If this is the last time I get to perform it was a shame it wasn't great but [I am] grateful for you," over the radio.
Hamilton also addressed recent comments by Mercedes boss Toto Wolff. In a new book, Wolff remarked on Hamilton's "shelf life" and suggested the Ferrari move precluded him from making a tough decision about Hamilton's future—a statement Wolff later clarified was taken out of context.
"Honestly, I feel in the best place I've been all year mentally, and considering how bad the last race was, I think that says enough," Hamilton stated.
"I'm still here, still fighting and I'm going to continue to push. I've got a team that I genuinely still love, and even though I am leaving, I want to make sure I give them the best I can in these next races.
"If they provide a car that wants to stay on track then hopefully we'll have a better result."
As the season draws to a close, Hamilton aims to finish on a high note with his current team before embarking on a new chapter with Ferrari.
