George Russell voices F1 drivers' frustration with FIA leadership

Las Vegas, NV – Formula 1 drivers, including George Russell from Mercedes, have voiced their dissatisfaction with the FIA following the abrupt exit of race director Niels Wittich.

Russell expressed surprise at Wittich's departure and frustration with FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem over various issues, including matters as mundane as swearing. The Grand Prix Drivers' Association (GPDA), with Russell as a director, urged Ben Sulayem to treat drivers as adults and maintain professionalism.

Russell commented on Wittich's departure at the Las Vegas Grand Prix and highlighted the drivers' discontent with the lack of communication from the FIA. He stressed the need for keeping drivers informed of significant decisions.

The GPDA's call for unity and transparency has received no response from the FIA, amplifying drivers' grievances. Russell noted that hiring and firing isn't always the solution and emphasized the need for stability.

Russell also pointed to the recent instability caused by high-profile departures within the FIA, affecting drivers' confidence in its leadership. He suggested that the FIA might not fully recognize the drivers' frustrations and emphasized the need for collaborative efforts.

As the season nears its end, drivers continue to call for better communication and cooperation from the FIA, hoping their concerns will be addressed moving forward.
