Formula 1 to host groundbreaking 2025 season launch event at O2 Arena
Formula One is set to host an unprecedented season launch event for the 2025 championship at London's iconic O2 Arena. The event, scheduled for February 18, will feature all the teams and drivers as the sport celebrates its 75th anniversary year.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Formula One announced that tickets would go on sale on November 15, with prices ranging from £58 to £113 ($74 to $144). The two-hour extravaganza will also include additional entertainment segments and will be broadcast live.
"For the first time we will bring together our fans, all 20 superstars of our sport and some very special guests to officially kick off our new season and mark our 75th year of racing," stated F1 chief executive Stefano Domenicali.
Traditionally, the 10 teams hold individual launches for their new car liveries, often at their factories or other venues with sponsors, media, and some fans in attendance. However, the 2025 event will mark a significant shift as all teams and drivers come together for a unified launch.
Ferrari, the only team to have competed in the championship since its inception, typically unveils their new car in Italy. Notably, the 2025 season will be Ferrari's first with Britain's seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
The 2025 season is also significant as it will be the last under the current engine regulations. Among the major changes are drivers' moves, including Hamilton's high-profile switch from Mercedes to Ferrari.
Adding to the excitement, the season will see the debut of at least four young rookies on the grid: Britain's Oliver Bearman at Haas, Italian Kimi Antonelli at Mercedes, Australian Jack Doohan at Alpine, and Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto at Sauber.
With the combined elements of tradition and innovation, the 2025 season launch event at O2 Arena promises to offer fans an exhilarating prelude to what is set to be a landmark year in Formula One history.
