“We reevaluated all the concepts of the car,” Waché said. “We modified most of the stuff that is maybe not as visible as the older car – the concepts overall stay the same – but plenty of stuff has changed underneath and inside the car that, in terms of cooling, suspension, and the aero package, everything has changed to achieve the characteristics we like.”
The RB21’s development has also taken into account the need for more flexibility. With a broader range of setup options, the car offers more room for adjustments based on specific track conditions. The result is a car that, while fundamentally similar to the RB20, is easier to drive and offers better overall performance on a variety of circuits.
Max Verstappen’s Reaction to the RB21
Max Verstappen, who has been the backbone of Red Bull’s dominance over the past seasons, has voiced his satisfaction with the new RB21. The 2024 season, despite his fourth consecutive title, was a challenging one for Verstappen due to the difficulties presented by the RB20. Looking ahead, Waché expressed that his goal is not to create a personal legacy but to continue delivering success for Red Bull Racing. “My desire is not to make my name famous. My desire is to make the team winning. That’s it,” Waché explained. “It doesn’t change my life. What’s important is that the team continues to improve and remains at the top.”
