Lewis Hamilton begins a new chapter with Ferrari for the F1 2025 season. Discover how his inspiring message and fresh challenges set the tone for the year ahead.
Hamilton Embraces Change with Ferrari
Lewis Hamilton has officially joined Ferrari for the 2025 Formula 1 season, marking a significant chapter in his illustrious career. Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna described Hamilton’s transition as “beautiful,” highlighting the seven-time World Champion’s willingness to embrace change and take on fresh challenges at this stage of his career.
Hamilton, now 40, begins his journey with Ferrari following a decade-long tenure at Mercedes, where he secured six of his seven world titles and became the first driver in F1 history to surpass 100 race wins and pole positions.
Ferrari CEO Praises Hamilton’s Vision
Hamilton welcomed the new year by updating his LinkedIn profile to reflect his new role as an F1 driver for Scuderia Ferrari. In an inspiring post, he wrote, “To anyone considering their next move in 2025: embrace the change. Reinvention is powerful, and your next opportunity is always within reach.”
Vigna expressed admiration for Hamilton’s message, calling it a “powerful” reflection of resilience and adaptability. “At 40, he has embraced a different culture and put himself back into the game,” Vigna told Corriere della Sera. He likened Hamilton’s bold move to the transformative decisions of iconic figures in history, signaling his respect for the driver’s commitment to excellence.
Ferrari’s Momentum and Project 677
Ferrari enters the 2025 season with high expectations following a successful 2024 campaign, where they finished just 14 points behind Constructors’ Champions McLaren. Vigna credited the team’s progress to strong leadership under team principal Fred Vasseur and highlighted the arrival of Hamilton as a catalyst for further improvement.
Ferrari’s 2025 car, codenamed Project 677, has been described as a “completely new” design aimed at ending the team’s championship drought, which dates back to 2008. “Lewis will bring technical insights and a fresh perspective that will push us forward,” Vigna said. “It’s clear he’s eager to learn from us, and we from him.”
Hamilton’s First Day at Maranello
Hamilton will begin his Ferrari tenure with a simulator session and meetings with his new engineers, including Riccardo Adami, who will serve as his race engineer. Adami previously worked with four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel and Carlos Sainz, receiving a glowing endorsement from Vettel after Hamilton sought his advice.
The British driver is also scheduled to participate in Ferrari’s annual “wake-up” test at Fiorano, driving the 2022 F1-75 car to reacclimate ahead of the season. Additional testing will follow at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Upcoming Milestones for Hamilton and Ferrari
Ferrari will unveil Project 677 on February 19, one day after Hamilton and teammate Charles Leclerc represent the team at Formula 1’s first-ever collective season launch event in London. Pre-season testing will take place in Bahrain from February 26-28, providing the first glimpse of Ferrari’s progress.
Hamilton is also set to appear at a Milan event organized by Ferrari and sponsor UniCredit before the season opener at the Australian Grand Prix on March 16. This marks the start of what many anticipate will be an exciting year for Ferrari and its star driver.
