Jacques Villeneuve is a Canadian racing driver best known for winning the Formula 1 World Championship in 1997. Born on April 9, 1971, in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, he is the son of the legendary F1 driver Gilles Villeneuve. Before entering Formula 1, Jacques achieved notable success in the American CART series, winning the Indianapolis 500 and the CART Championship in 1995. He debuted in Formula 1 with the Williams team in 1996 and quickly made an impact, securing the World Championship in his second season and famously defeating Michael Schumacher. Villeneuve's F1 career included stints with BAR, Renault, Sauber, and BMW Sauber, but he never recaptured the success of his early years. Post-Formula 1, he has pursued a diverse racing career, including ventures into NASCAR, endurance racing, and even the FIA World Rallycross Championship, showcasing his versatile driving talent.
