He joined the Formula 1 circuit in the early 1970s, racing for teams such as McLaren, Tyrrell, and Wolf before securing his championship with Ferrari. His victory in 1979 marked Ferrari's last drivers' title until Michael Schumacher's win in 2000. After retiring in 1980, Scheckter shifted his focus to business, successfully establishing a firearms training company and later becoming an organic farming advocate. Despite his relatively brief career in Formula 1, he remains a respected figure in motorsport history for his championship-winning prowess and subsequent entrepreneurial ventures.
