Racing driver James Hunt: Formula 1 world champion and a true legend of the track

James Hunt - 1976 (McLaren)

James Hunt was a charismatic and flamboyant British racing driver who won the Formula 1 World Championship in 1976. Born on August 29, 1947, in Belmont, Surrey, England, Hunt initially pursued a career in medicine before switching to racing. Known for his daring and aggressive driving style, he achieved significant success with the McLaren team, famously winning his championship in a dramatic and closely contested season against rival Niki Lauda. Off the track, Hunt's playboy lifestyle and candid personality made him a popular figure in the media. After retiring from racing, he became a well-regarded Formula 1 commentator for the BBC. Hunt passed away at the age of 45, on June 15, 1993, but remains a celebrated and iconic figure in the world of motorsport.
