Niki Lauda was a legendary Austrian Formula 1 driver and three-time World Champion, known for his remarkable resilience and technical acumen. Born on February 22, 1949, in Vienna, Austria, Lauda initially faced family opposition to his racing ambitions but successfully carved out a sensational career. He won the World Championship in 1975 and 1977 with Ferrari, and again in 1984 with McLaren. Lauda survived a life-threatening crash at the 1976 German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring, suffering severe burns, yet made a miraculous return to racing just six weeks later. After retiring from racing, he remained influential in the sport as a team manager and airline entrepreneur, eventually serving as a non-executive chairman for the Mercedes F1 team. Lauda passed away on May 20, 2019, leaving behind a legacy of courage, determination, and excellence in motorsport.
