Stewart was a vocal proponent of improved safety measures in Formula 1, campaigning for better track conditions, medical facilities, and driver protection, which significantly influenced the sport's evolution. After his retirement, he transitioned into a successful broadcasting career and even managed his own F1 team, Stewart Grand Prix.
