Nino Farina

Racing driver Nino Farina: Formula 1 world champion and a true legend of the track

Giuseppe 'Nino' Farina - 1950 (Alfa Romeo)

Giuseppe Antonio 'Nino' Farina was the first ever Formula 1 World Champion, known for his stylish driving technique and determination. Born on October 30, 1906, in Turin, Italy, Farina was destined to be involved in the automotive world, with his family founding the renowned Pininfarina coachbuilding firm. Despite an early expectation to join the family business, his passion for racing was ignited after driving at age nine. Farina relied on self-belief and raw courage to compete against more naturally talented drivers but was also noted for his reckless disregard for safety. Throughout his career, he survived numerous accidents but was eventually killed in a road accident.
