Daniel Ricciardo dismisses F1 return with Cadillac
Daniel Ricciardo will not seek a return to Formula 1 with General Motors' Cadillac team for the 2026 season, sources close to the driver have confirmed. Rumors circulated earlier in the week, fueled by a report in Bild, claiming that Ricciardo was a prime candidate for Cadillac and that an agreement in principle had been made for him to join the grid. However, these claims appear to be unfounded.
Sources indicate that Ricciardo "has not been contacted and he has no interest" in such a move. The Australian driver has seemingly closed the chapter on his Formula 1 career, especially following his departure from Red Bull and its RB team earlier this year. Despite aspirations to return to race-winning form with Red Bull, the option was ultimately not available, leading Ricciardo to step away from the team and sever all ties post-Singapore Grand Prix.
Throughout his career, Ricciardo secured eight Grand Prix victories, with his most recent triumph being the 2022 Italian Grand Prix for McLaren. While his future in motorsport remains uncertain, Ricciardo has hinted at interest in sport beyond F1, notably expressing curiosity in NASCAR, inspired by his admiration for Dale Earnhardt. Nonetheless, his enthusiasm for participating in such events seems to have diminished in recent times.
As speculation continues around Ricciardo's career trajectory, it is clear that any potential return to Formula 1 with Cadillac is not on his horizon.
