Ferrari secures engine supply agreement with Cadillac for F1 2026 debut

Ferrari agrees engine deal with new team Cadillac

Ferrari has officially confirmed a ‘multi-year’ agreement to provide engines and gearboxes to the Cadillac Formula 1 team ahead of its anticipated debut on the grid in 2026.

This announcement follows Formula 1's confirmation in November of an agreement in principle with the General Motors-backed outfit, clearing the path for Cadillac to join the sport as the 11th team at the beginning of 2026.

General Motors has expressed intentions to develop its own engines down the line, but such engines are expected to be ready no sooner than the 2028 season. In the interim, Ferrari will supply the power units necessary for Cadillac's Formula 1 entry.

A statement from Ferrari read: "Ferrari N.V. today announces a multi-year agreement starting from 2026 with Andretti Formula Racing LLC, regarding the supply of power unit and gearbox to the racing team led by TWG Global and General Motors, subject to Andretti Formula Racing LLC receiving written confirmation from the FIA -- F1 that its entry to the 2026 FIA Formula One Championship has been accepted and approved."

Currently, Ferrari supplies engines to Haas and Sauber among the 10 teams on the grid. However, they are set to lose Sauber in 2026 when it transitions to becoming the Audi F1 team.

The 2026 season will usher in a new engine formula that features a 50-50 split between internal combustion power and electric power, marking a significant shift in F1's technical regulations.
