Brazil GP: Verstappen's masterful win praised by world champions Hamilton and Alonso
Max Verstappen's remarkable victory at the Brazil Grand Prix garnered high praise from Formula 1 icons Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso. Demonstrating his prowess in wet conditions, Verstappen triumphed in Sao Paulo after starting from 17th on the grid, edging closer to securing his fourth consecutive world championship.
Despite their storied rivalry, Hamilton, who clashed with Verstappen on multiple occasions during their 2021 title battle, commended the Dutchman's performance with a social media post, stating, "Amazing drive, congrats," paired with a fist-bump emoji.
Verstappen is on the verge of joining Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Juan Manuel Fangio, Sebastian Vettel, and Alain Prost in the elite group of four-time world champions. Alonso, a two-time world champion himself, echoed Hamilton's sentiments by posting his own congratulatory message: "Fantastic drive, congrats."
The Red Bull driver's exceptional performance received accolades throughout the paddock. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc remarked, "We knew the Red Bull would be good today, but honestly I think today it was more Max that made the difference than the car."
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner told Sky Sports, "I think in those conditions the drivers' skill really comes to the fore and he was in a league of his own. As a team, we got all the cars right and the car had great pace. An outstanding drive, to come from 17th. This morning it felt everything had gone against us, but he turned it around. It was an incredible performance from him, one of his very best."
Verstappen's victory serves as yet another testament to his extraordinary talent and fortitude, leaving fans and rivals alike in admiration of his skill and determination.
