SAO PAULO — Franco Colapinto's attempt to navigate the Sao Paulo Grand Prix ended prematurely when he slammed into the wall due to treacherous weather conditions, marking a disastrous weekend for Williams in Brazil.

As the Argentine driver accelerated along the pit straight, he lost control of his car on the slippery track while trying to catch up with the Safety Car train. In his attempt to regain control, Colapinto over-corrected, causing his car to veer sideways and hit the barrier.

The crash scattered debris across the circuit, prompting race officials to wave the red flags and temporarily halt the race. Fortunately, the 21-year-old driver emerged unscathed from the incident.

This crash compounded the woes for Williams, whose weekend had already taken a turn for the worse after both Colapinto and his teammate, Alex Albon, crashed out during qualifying. Albon's car sustained such significant damage that he was unable to participate in the Grand Prix.

Despite the concerted efforts of Colapinto's mechanics to perform necessary repairs on his car in time for the race, Williams leaves Brazil empty-handed, securing zero points from the weekend.
