Lawrence Stroll hopes to sign Adrian Newey to Aston Martin

Aston Martin appears poised for a significant acquisition in the world of Formula One as Lawrence Stroll, the team's owner, has expressed his desire to bring on veteran engineer Adrian Newey.
Following reports indicating that a deal with the renowned Red Bull engineer is due to be announced next week, Lawrence Stroll has openly discussed his eagerness to secure Newey’s expertise.
In May, Red Bull revealed that Newey, who has been at the helm of the champion team's design office for 19 years, will leave the team in early 2025. Aston Martin has emerged as Newey's most likely destination, although the team has seldom commented publicly about its negotiations with the 65-year-old engineering genius.

During an interview with Bloomberg, Stroll was asked if Newey would be joining Aston Martin. He replied, "I certainly hope so. Adrian and I have been talking not only for months but actually for years. Adrian is clearly the most talented and gifted individual in Formula One based on his track record and history. So I'd be very excited for Adrian to join our team, as I think every other Formula One team on the grid would feel exactly the same."
When pressed if he would go to great lengths to sign Newey, Stroll added, "You can definitely assume that."
Earlier this week, the Daily Mail reported that Newey is set to sign a £20 million ($26m)-a-year deal with Aston Martin, with an official announcement expected next week. Notably, the same publication had previously suggested that Newey was close to signing with Ferrari, although this seems improbable now.
Throughout an illustrious F1 career spanning more than four decades, Newey has contributed to 12 successful constructors' championship campaigns with three different teams.
Newey, reflecting on his career and future aspirations, said in a statement in May, "Ever since I was a young boy, I wanted to be a designer of fast cars. My dream was to be an engineer in Formula One, and I've been lucky enough to make that dream a reality. For almost two decades it has been my great honour to have played a key role in Red Bull Racing's progress from upstart newcomer to multiple title-winning team. However, I feel now is an opportune moment to hand that baton over to others and to seek new challenges for myself."
As the anticipation builds around this potential move, all eyes are on Aston Martin and Newey, with many eager to see how the engineer's expertise could reshape the team's fortunes on the grid.
