Mick Schumacher to test Alpine F1 car at Paul Ricard

In a strategic move that could influence their 2025 driver lineup, Alpine has announced that Mick Schumacher will conduct a Formula One test next week. The session is set to take place at the French circuit, Paul Ricard, on July 3.

Schumacher, who is the son of the legendary seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, brings with him a wealth of experience, having raced for Haas in the 2021 and 2022 seasons. Currently serving as a reserve driver for the Mercedes team, the German driver also competes with Alpine's World Endurance Championship team.

Alongside Schumacher, Alpine reserve driver Jack Doohan will also participate in the test. Doohan, son of motorbike racing icon Mick Doohan, finished third in the F1 feeder series Formula 2 last year, making him a promising talent to watch.

This test comes as Alpine evaluates its options for the 2025 driver lineup. Already confirmed is that Esteban Ocon will not continue with the team beyond this season. While Pierre Gasly seems a strong candidate to retain his seat, the identity of his future teammate remains uncertain.

In recent developments, according to reports, Alpine has joined the race to secure Carlos Sainz's signature. However, reports indicate that Williams remains the frontrunner to sign the current Ferrari driver.

As for Schumacher, his previous stint with Haas was considered underwhelming, positioning him as an outsider for a full-time F1 seat. Nonetheless, a strong performance in this upcoming test could shift perceptions and boost his chances of securing a spot on the team.

Stay tuned for updates as this test may play a pivotal role in shaping Alpine's future lineup.
