Verstappen secures pole position for Miami Grand Prix

MIAMI — Max Verstappen has secured his seventh consecutive pole position at the Miami Grand Prix, despite not improving during his final flying lap. The Dutch driver set an impressive time of 1m 27.241s in his first run of Q3, which proved sufficient to maintain his position at the top.
Joining Verstappen on the front row is Charles Leclerc in his Ferrari, with teammate Carlos Sainz close behind in third. Sergio Perez ensured that both Red Bulls were near the front, taking the P4 slot. McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri locked out the fifth and sixth positions, respectively, while the Mercedes pair of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton secured P7 and P8.
Nico Hulkenberg matched his previous qualifying result from China, putting his Haas in P9. Yuki Tsunoda rounded out the top ten in an impressive showing for RB.
Aston Martin faced a challenging day, with both Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso being eliminated in Q2. They will line up in P11 and P15, respectively. Alpine's Pierre Gasly, despite a strong Q1 performance, could only manage 12th place, followed by teammate Esteban Ocon in 13th and Williams' Alex Albon in 14th.
Valtteri Bottas led the Kick Sauber contingent in P16, while Logan Sargeant failed to advance past Q1 and ended up in P17. Despite an earlier strong showing in the Sprint, RB's Daniel Ricciardo experienced a surprising early exit in P18. Adding to his woes, a three-place grid penalty from China relegates him to the back of the field.
Also falling short in the first segment of qualifying were Kevin Magnussen in 19th for Haas and Zhou Guanyu in 20th for Kick Sauber.
