Williams F1 Announces Historic Title Sponsorship with Atlassian

Williams Racing has secured the biggest sponsorship deal in its 48-year history, announcing a long-term title partnership with software company Atlassian. The agreement, confirmed ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 season, will see the team officially renamed Atlassian Williams Racing.

This marks the first title sponsorship deal for Williams since Dorilton Capital took over the team in 2020 and the first under team principal James Vowles, who has been leading the Grove-based outfit’s transformation since 2023.

Williams Confirms Name Change with Atlassian Title Sponsorship

The confirmation follows an unintentional leak when a promotional image of Carlos Sainz wearing Williams' 2025 team kit surfaced online. Now, Williams has formally announced the partnership with Australian software giant Atlassian, a company that serves over 300,000 customers worldwide.

Under the multi-year deal, Atlassian will not only become Williams' title partner but also serve as the team’s Official Technology Partner and Official Collaboration Software Partner, reinforcing the team's commitment to innovation both on and off the track.

Williams’ Largest Commercial Deal in History

The Grove-based team described the agreement as the largest commercial deal in its nearly five-decade-long history. With Williams focused on a long-term resurgence in Formula 1, securing a title partnership of this scale marks a major milestone in its rebuilding process.

The partnership will be officially unveiled on February 9, when Williams launches its 2025 challenger, the FW47, in a special commemorative livery. The race livery for the upcoming season will then be revealed at the F1 75 live event in London on February 18.

James Vowles: "A Momentous Day in Williams’ History"

Williams team principal James Vowles hailed the deal as a defining moment in the team’s journey back to the top of Formula 1.

“I am delighted to welcome Atlassian into Formula 1 and our evolution into Atlassian Williams Racing,” Vowles said. “Attracting a title partnership of this size and significance is a momentous day in our team’s illustrious history and a major milestone in our comeback transformation.”

“We are putting in place all the right ingredients to get this team back to the front of the grid. In Atlassian, we have a partner whose technology and tools will help unleash our full potential by improving teamwork and collaboration across the entire organization.”

“Our values and ambition align perfectly, and I’m excited about what we can achieve together,” he added.

Atlassian CEO: "Formula 1 is the Ultimate Team Sport"

Atlassian CEO Mike Cannon-Brookes echoed Vowles' enthusiasm, emphasizing the parallels between the fast-paced world of Formula 1 and the collaborative power of Atlassian’s software solutions.

“Formula 1 is the ultimate team sport. Engineers, developers, commercial teams, pit crews, and countless others must work together in real-time at incredible speeds to race for a podium finish,” he said.

“Atlassian shares Williams’ deep belief in the power of teamwork. We know that when great teams have the right tools and practices, they can achieve things that would be impossible alone.”

He also highlighted Atlassian’s own journey as a global technology company.

“As one of the first global technology companies out of Australia, we understand what it’s like to have passion, drive, and the belief that you’re building something great. This team has been through a remarkable transformation, and I believe Atlassian Williams Racing has all the foundations for a renewed era of greatness.”

What This Means for Williams’ Future

With this groundbreaking partnership, Williams is sending a clear message: the team is serious about returning to competitiveness in Formula 1. The influx of commercial support from Atlassian will not only provide vital financial backing but also enable Williams to leverage cutting-edge technology to enhance its performance on the track.

The team’s 2025 campaign will be closely watched as they look to capitalize on this partnership and continue their resurgence in the highly competitive F1 grid.

Stay tuned as Atlassian Williams Racing unveils its 2025 challenger and gears up for an exciting new chapter in Formula 1.
