SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS, Belgium -- In a dramatic turn of events at the Belgian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton won the race after his Mercedes teammate, George Russell, was disqualified for an underweight car. Russell originally crossed the finish line first, narrowly ahead of Hamilton, who had mounted a thrilling late charge.

After Russell's disqualification, Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton secured first place with a time of 1:19:57.566, finishing ahead of Mc Laren’s Oscar Piastri by 1.173 seconds and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc by 8.549 seconds.

The disqualification came after a Technical Delegate's Report found Russell's car underweight, and Mercedes admitted to a "genuine error." This promoted McLaren's Oscar Piastri to second place, with Ferrari's Charles Leclerc moving up to third.

On track, Hamilton overtook pole-sitter Leclerc early and maintained a strong lead. Russell, attempting a one-stop strategy, was under immense pressure from Hamilton in the final laps but managed to hold position until the disqualification.

Max Verstappen, who started in P11, finished fourth after overtaking McLaren's Lando Norris and Ferrari's Carlos Sainz. Red Bull's Sergio Perez ended up seventh, behind Sainz, amid ongoing scrutiny of his performance.

Fernando Alonso took eighth for Aston Martin, while Alpine's Esteban Ocon and Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo completed the top ten. Zhou Guanyu was the sole retirement due to a hydraulic issue.

Hamilton's victory marks his fifth career win at Spa, reinforcing his dominance at the historic circuit.
