Despite forecasts of rain, teams enjoyed a dry Spa-Francorchamps track, allowing for uninterrupted preparations. Verstappen, who faces a 10-place grid penalty for Sunday, initially led on medium tyres. But during qualifying simulations on soft tyres, McLaren's pace was unmatched.

Verstappen finished just 0.002s behind Piastri but couldn't beat Norris. Sergio Perez's struggles continued, finishing ninth, a second off Verstappen's pace.

Ferrari emerged as the third-best team, with Charles Leclerc in fourth and Carlos Sainz fifth. George Russell led Mercedes in sixth, with Esteban Ocon rebounding to seventh for Alpine. Kevin Magnussen was eighth for Haas, and Lewis Hamilton rounded out the top 10.

Aston Martin's Lance Stroll narrowly beat teammate Fernando Alonso for 11th, with Valtteri Bottas in 13th. Red Bull looks to face challenges, as Daniel Ricciardo was 14th and Yuki Tsunoda, set to start from the back due to engine changes, was 20th.

Pierre Gasly took 15th, followed by Nico Hulkenberg and the Williams pair Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant. Zhou Guanyu was 19th for Sauber.

Teams now prepare for Saturday's sessions, with rain likely to impact both final practice and qualifying.
