FP2: Norris sets the pace amidst red flags in Hungary FP2
Lando Norris topped the timesheets in the second practice session of the Hungarian Grand Prix, which was disrupted by Charles Leclerc's crash. The session unfolded under sweltering temperatures of 31°C, with drivers eager to hit the track at 1700 local time.

Max Verstappen, running on medium tires like most of the field, reported brake issues. Only McLaren, including Norris, opted for hard compounds at the start.
With 44 minutes left, Leclerc spun into the barriers at Turn 4, bringing out the red flags. He walked away unharmed, and the session resumed with most drivers switching to soft tires for their flying laps.
Norris set an impressive lap of 1m 17.788s, finishing 0.243s ahead of Verstappen. Carlos Sainz led Ferrari in third, followed by Perez in fourth. George Russell took fifth for Mercedes, with Kevin Magnussen in sixth for Haas. Lewis Hamilton was seventh.
Daniel Ricciardo secured P8 in the RB, trailed by Williams’ Alex Albon and Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin, who rounded out the top 10.
Valtteri Bottas placed 11th for Kick Sauber, while Logan Sargeant took 12th for Williams. McLaren’s Oscar Piastri finished 13th, hampered by floor damage. Alpine’s Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly were 14th and 16th, sandwiching Hulkenberg in 15th. Lance Stroll ended 17th.
Leclerc couldn’t rejoin the session, finishing 18th. Yuki Tsunoda was 19th after a suspension change, with Zhou Guanyu rounding out the field in 20th following a spin that narrowly missed Perez.
Drivers and teams will now analyze their data ahead of final practice on Saturday at 1230 local time, leading into the crucial qualifying session later in the day.
