GP Qualifying: Verstappen dominates Austrian GP qualifying, secures pole ahead of Norris and Russell
SPIELBERG, Austria -- Max Verstappen took pole position for the Austrian Grand Prix with a superb qualifying display. Clocking a lap of 1m 04.314s, Verstappen outpaced McLaren’s Lando Norris by 0.404 seconds. George Russell completed the top three for Mercedes.

Charles Leclerc, despite an off-track moment, took sixth. Oscar Piastri was demoted to seventh due to a track limits violation.
Red Bull’s Sergio Perez grabbed eighth place. Haas’s Nico Hulkenberg was ninth but faces investigation for pit lane infractions. Esteban Ocon of Alpine rounded out the top ten.
In Q2, Daniel Ricciardo (P11) and Yuki Tsunoda (P14) failed to advance. Kevin Magnussen (P12) and Pierre Gasly (P13) were also eliminated in Q2. Fernando Alonso struggled and ended up in P15, nearly crashing during his flying lap.
Williams drivers Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant had a tough session, finishing P16 and P19, respectively. Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll (P17) and the Kick Sauber pair, Valtteri Bottas (P18) and Zhou Guanyu (P20), also disappointed in qualifying.
With the race ahead, Verstappen aims to convert his pole into a victory, while rivals Norris and Russell look to challenge him from the start.
