On the track, Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen secured first place with a time of 1:28:20.227, finishing ahead of McLaren's Lando Norris by 2.219 seconds and Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton by 17.790 seconds.

Verstappen, who started from pole position, faced stiff competition from the outset. George Russell of Mercedes had a lightning start from fourth on the grid, briefly taking the lead before Verstappen reclaimed the top spot on lap three. Norris also challenged Verstappen early on, but the Dutchman’s strategic brilliance and racecraft ensured he maintained his lead.

The race was marked by several strategic maneuvers and pit stops. Verstappen opted to start on used soft tires, a decision that paid off as he managed to keep his pace consistent throughout the race. The first wave of pit stops began around lap 13, with notable stints including Perez’s attempt to recover from a three-place grid penalty.

Russell and Hamilton engaged in a spirited fight for positions, with Russell briefly climbing to third before tire degradation issues saw him slip back. Hamilton, on the other hand, showcased his experience and skill, overtaking several competitors to secure third place, much to the delight of his fans.

As the race approached its final stages, Norris closed the gap to Verstappen, reducing the Dutchman's lead to just over two seconds. Despite the pressure, Verstappen remained composed, expertly navigating the circuit to cross the finish line first with a time of 1:28:20.227. Norris finished a commendable second, just 2.219 seconds behind, while Hamilton finished 17.79 seconds off the leader.

The McLaren driver appeared to be the fastest on track but his slow start lower his chances of winning the race.

The Spanish Grand Prix was not without its incidents. Home favorite Carlos Sainz faced a tough race, battling with his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc and other midfield runners. Sainz's aggressive driving saw him make several key overtakes but also led to a contentious clash with Hamilton that went without further investigation from the stewards.

Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Sainz finished fifth and sixth.

Oscar Piastri secured seventh place, ahead of Red Bull Racing's Sergio Perez who passed Alpine's Pierre Gasly on the final lap of the race.

Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon earned double points for Alpine, finishing ninth and tenth respectively.

This victory further solidifies Verstappen's lead in the championship standings, showcasing his dominance this season. Norris's performance also highlighted McLaren's resurgence, while Hamilton's podium indicated a positive trajectory for Mercedes as they continue to develop their car.

The Spanish Grand Prix provided fans with an exhilarating display of skill, strategy, and speed, setting the stage for an exciting remainder of the 2024 Formula 1 season.

The next race is in Red Bull Ring, Spielberg, Austria on June 30.
