Sprint Qualifying: Norris secures pole in wet sprint qualifying in China
Lando Norris clinched pole in a chaotic, rain-affected Sprint Qualifying (SQ) session at the Chinese Grand Prix. Norris initially saw his quickest time deleted but was later reinstated, securing his spot with a 1m 57.940s lap.

Lewis Hamilton briefly held P1 until Norris’s time was reinstated, slotting Hamilton into P2. Fernando Alonso impressed with P3, while Verstappen settled for P4.
Carlos Sainz led Ferrari in P5, with Sergio Perez beside him in P6. Charles Leclerc took P7 after an off-track excursion, followed by Oscar Piastri in P8. The Kick Sauber duo, Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu, rounded out the top 10, marking a strong performance for Zhou in his home race.
Rain interrupted the final moments of SQ2, forcing George Russell to abandon his lap and finish 11th. Haas drivers Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg took P12 and P13. Daniel Ricciardo, who also abandoned his final attempt due to rain, finished 14th, with Lance Stroll in P15.
Alpine's struggles continued with Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon exiting in SQ1, taking P16 and P17 respectively. Alex Albon (Williams) finished 18th. Yuki Tsunoda, unable to improve his time, ended 19th, with Logan Sargeant (Williams) completing the grid in 20th.
