However, Verstappen emerged as a force to be reckoned with. As the overwhelmingly dominant driver in 2023, he claimed victory in an impressive 19 out of the 22 races, resulting in an astounding win percentage of 86%.

Verstappen broke in Sao Paulo Ascari's record, but mot only that, he also managed to break his own record. In 2022, Verstappen secured victory in 15 grands prix, surpassing the previous records set by Michael Schumacher in 2004 and Sebastian Vettel in 2013, who both won 13 races respectively.

Highest percentage of Laps Led: Verstappen's commanding performances saw him lead an impressive 75.7% of all laps this season, surpassing the longstanding record of 71.5% held by Jim Clark since 1963.

The 1963 season witnessed one of the most exceptional performances in F1 history, with Clark securing his first championship title with three races remaining by winning an impressive seven out of ten races. Throughout that season, Clark led an astounding 506 out of 708 laps, setting a record-breaking percentage of 71.47%.

No driver managed to surpass Clark's record-breaking percentage until Verstappen arrived.

Most consecutive races as championship leader: Verstappen leads for 39 Straight Races since May 2022. Verstappen wrapped up the 2023 season by holding the championship lead in an impressive streak of 39 consecutive grands prix. This incredible run began in May 2022 when Leclerc, who was leading the race at the time, had to retire from the Spanish GP due to a turbo and MGU-H failure.

Most consecutive points scored: In the year 2023, Verstappen scored 1,004 consecutive points. This impressive run began with a victory at the 2022 Emilia Romagna GP, following a retirement from the Australian GP two weeks prior.

Most consecutive top two finishes: The victory at Yas Marina Circuit started a run of 15 consecutive top two finishes for Verstappen, which ended at the 2023 Singapore GP. Verstappen matched Schumacher's record from 2002 of most consecutive top two finishes.

Most pit stops by the winning driver in one race: Verstappen equaled Jenson Button's record from the dramatic 2011 Canadian Grand Prix. Verstappen made an exceptional six pit stops during a rain-soaked race at Zandvoort, his home circuit. This set a new benchmark for the most pit stops by a winning driver in a single race.

The race at Zandvoort was comparatively to 2011 Canadian Grand Prix less dramatic. Despite the need for drivers to switch from slick tires to intermediates by the end of lap three due to changing conditions between wet and dry, Verstappen maintained his lead throughout the race.

Verstappen is the only driver to win thrice in one country (United States): In the year 2023, Verstappen achieved a remarkable feat by winning all three grands prix in the United States. The triumphant streak began with a victory at the Miami GP in May, followed by subsequent wins in Austin and Vegas later in the year.

Adding to their list of achievements, the team secured a single-season record 20th race win at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. And to culminate the season, Verstappen broke another record by becoming the first driver in history to lead over 1,000 laps in a single season.

And, Red Bull has won its sixth constructors' championship in its 19-year history (since they entered the series in 2005) and broken the record for securing the title with six races remaining. This is earlier than any team has ever won the title.
