Racing driver Gabriel Bortoleto: Young Formula 1 prospect with sharp instincts and speed
Gabriel Bortoleto is a Brazilian racing driver who has rapidly established himself as one of the brightest young talents in Formula 1. Born on October 14, 2004, in Osasco, São Paulo, he began karting at a young age and quickly progressed through the junior categories in Europe, showcasing remarkable speed and consistency.
Bortoleto’s breakthrough in single‑seater racing came with back‑to‑back championship wins: he captured the 2023 FIA Formula 3 title and followed it with the 2024 Formula 2 championship, becoming one of the few drivers in history to win both in consecutive seasons. His F2 campaign included a historic feat at Monza, where he rose from last on the grid to take victory in the feature race — a performance that cemented his reputation as a rising star.
In 2025, Bortoleto graduated to Formula 1 with Audi’s works team (formerly Sauber), signing a multi‑year deal and becoming the first full‑time Brazilian driver on the grid since Felipe Massa. He impressed early by out‑qualifying his seasoned teammate and scoring his first championship points, demonstrating pace and maturity beyond his years.
Known for his determination and rapid learning curve, Bortoleto has been supported by Fernando Alonso’s A14 management program and briefly was part of the McLaren Driver Development Programme. With his mix of raw talent and strong results in junior categories, he’s widely regarded as a future contender to lift Formula 1’s next generation of Brazilian racing hopes.
